Mary Cernava

Mary Cernava is an accomplished healthcare executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience in home healthcare operations, strategic growth, regulatory compliance, and community-based services. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving healthcare delivery by developing high-performing teams, strengthening operational systems, expanding services, and creating sustainable growth for organizations serving seniors, veterans, and individuals requiring care in the home.

Mary currently serves as a Senior Placement Advisor, where she draws upon her

extensive experience as a home care agency owner-operator and healthcare consultant with MTC Management. Her first-hand understanding of the healthcare industry enables her to provide families and healthcare partners with knowledgeable guidance and personalized solutions.

Previously, Mary served as Co-Owner, President, and Chief Operating Officer of

Your Home Court Advantage LLC, where she led the organization from start-up

operations to a multi-million healthcare company within eight years. She provided strategic and operational leadership across multiple locations, overseeing performance management, regulatory compliance, financial growth, credentialing, staff development, and service excellence.

During her tenure, Mary developed and implemented operational strategies that

improved efficiency, expanded market presence, and strengthened relationships with healthcare partners. Her expertise includes Medicaid programs, Veterans Administration services, private-pay services, workers’ compensation, audits, licensing, credentialing, and healthcare regulatory requirements. Her leadership helped establish organizations as trusted and respected providers throughout the Northeast Ohio healthcare community.

Earlier in her career, Mary served as Director of Private Duty Services with

Northeast Professional Home Health Care and spent more than two decades

with Cambridge Home Health Care Services, where she held the position of Regional Director. In these roles, she managed multi-location operations, developed staff training and onboarding programs, implemented quality improvement initiatives, and collaborated with healthcare professionals and community partners to expand access to care.

Known for combining strategic vision with hands-on operational leadership, Mary has built a career around developing collaborative cultures, mentoring teams, improving organizational performance, and achieving measurable results. She has also served as a HIPAA Compliance Officer and Grievance Officer and has worked closely with governing boards, regulatory agencies, managed care organizations, healthcare providers, and community partners.

Mary holds an associate degree from Stark State College and has completed additional studies at the University of Akron. She is also a graduate of the Leadership Akron Signature Program, a selective 10-month leadership development program focused on strengthening the skills and community impact of established and emerging leaders. With decades of experience across home healthcare, senior services, and community-based care, Mary brings a unique combination of executive leadership, operational expertise, industry knowledge, and a genuine passion for helping individuals and families navigate their healthcare needs.

Sandee Dougherty

For nearly two decades, Sandra owned and operated Visiting Angels of Canton, taking the home care franchise from a startup to a multimillion-dollar enterprise. Along the way, her agency cared for thousands of Stark County Seniors in their homes helping them to age in place with dignity and grace.

Before Visiting Angels, Sandra spent fifteen years as a Financial Advisor, the last 5 years with MetLife, guiding individuals and small businesses through long-term financial planning, retirement readiness, and long-term care insurance strategy — experience that continues to guide her disciplined, value-driven approach today.

It is Sandra’s love of solving problems and helping people coupled with her vast knowledge andover 20 years’ experience, that has drawn her to the Senior care profession as a Placement Advisor.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Akron and is a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA). Sandra is passionate about her community and serves on the board of the Canton Symphony Orchestra and advocates for animal welfare and wildlife actively.
